Chapter 3123 Watching the Sunrise
Chapter 3123 Watching the Sunrise
Chapter 3123 Watching the Sunrise
The adults sat by the fire in the living room, watching TV and chatting, while the children huddled in their rooms talking. Around 8 p.m., the area around Baijia Village was pitch black, but the village lights began to twinkle.
Dunzi came alone with a flashlight. Robin asked him if he was scared on the way. She was very scared. The road was pitch black and she couldn't see anything. There was no sound in the air except for the wind. Even the little insects had disappeared.
"I was only thinking about getting here to find you as quickly as possible, and I wasn't afraid of anything else," Dunzi said. That's what he did, so he didn't feel scared at all; he was only thinking about getting here as quickly as possible.
"Are you going to herd the cattle tomorrow morning?" Xiaobai asked Dunzi, knowing that Dunzi usually went up the mountain to herd the cattle in the morning.
But Dunzi shook his head and said he wouldn't go. "It's cold, the cows can just stay home and eat grass. But I can take you to see the sunrise. It's beautiful to watch the sunrise from the mountaintop."
His suggestion startled Robin, the little white-haired girl.
"Watch the sunrise? Where can we watch it?" Xi'er asked.
Dunzi pointed in a certain direction and said, "It's on that hilltop over there. I often watch the sunrise from there when I'm herding cattle in the morning."
Xiao Bai immediately responded, "I'll go."
“I’ll go too,” Xi’er said immediately.
“Me too, take me with you.” Robin was worried that his aunt would leave him behind.
Dunzi said, "Okay, then we need to get up early tomorrow. I'll come and wake you up at 6:30."
"Can we see the sunrise at 6:30? Won't it be too late?" Xiaobai asked. Her science score wasn't high, but she had some basic common sense.
"It's not too late. It's winter now, the sun doesn't rise that early. We'll leave at 6:30, and the journey will take more than 40 minutes..."
At this point, Dunzi looked down at Robin and added, "It might take more than fifty minutes to get to the top of the mountain, and we can see the sunrise at 7:30."
The group immediately agreed, thinking they would have to get up at 5 a.m., but 6 a.m. would be no problem at all.
Having agreed to watch the sunrise, everyone was in high spirits and couldn't wait to set off to climb the mountain and spend the night there.
Xi'er suddenly reminded Robin, "Robin, are you staying here tonight? Then you won't be able to keep up with us."
Robin was startled. Yes, if she had lived here, she wouldn't have known that her aunt and Xi'er had left.
With that in mind, Robin immediately and decisively said that she would stay with her aunt that night and they would set off together the next morning.
At nine o'clock in the evening, the adults in the living room went home one after another. In the countryside in winter, this time is already very late, and everyone usually goes to bed early.
Zhang Tan also came to call Xiaobai and the others to go back. Robin asked her parents if she could stay with her aunt that night.
Yang Yi disagreed, as the child was never home in Pujiang and wouldn't sleep at home on his first night here, but she couldn't go against the little one's wishes and had to agree.
The group walked home with flashlights. The winter night was really cold, and there were only a few stars in the night sky, making it seem very desolate.
Zhang Tan first took Xiaobai and the others home, and then took Dunzi home alone.
Everyone went to bed earlier than usual that night, and it was unusually quiet; there wasn't a single sound.
The next morning, while Xi'er was still half asleep, she heard voices outside. When she got up, she found that it was Dunzi who was warming himself by the fire in the living room.
"Hehe, here's an egg for you, Xi'er." Dunzi chuckled and took a freshly boiled egg from his pocket, handing it to Xi'er. "Eat something first thing in the morning before you climb up, otherwise you won't have the strength."
Xi'er took it in her hand and immediately felt a warm sensation in her palm, which made her feel good without her even realizing it.
"have you eaten?"
"I've already eaten one."
"Are you about to leave? Why didn't you call us?"
"It's not time yet, you can still sleep a little longer."
"Why did you get up so early?"
"I usually get up this early."
Just then, the sound of a rooster crowing came from the courtyard. Xi'er ran outside to look and saw a spirited rooster standing on a big rock, raising its head and crowing.
"The rooster crowed, I'm going to wake up Xiaobai and Robin, we're about to leave."
Xi'er ran to the room to call for help and quickly woke up the aunt and niece. Dunzi took out two eggs from his pocket and handed one to each of them. They were warm and made their palms feel warm.
At this moment, Zhang Tan also came out of the room. He had heard last night that Xiao Bai and the others were going to climb the mountain to watch the sunrise. He agreed on the condition that he would go with them, otherwise he would not feel at ease.
The group set off with flashlights. It was just before dawn, but visibility was limited in the mountains and forests, making everything appear hazy.
The group chatted and laughed, singing as they walked along the mountain path, encouraging each other. Finally, at 7:15 a.m., they reached the top of the mountain. Looking down at the foot of the mountain, they saw a low-lying area with ponds and rivers, stretching into the distance and out of sight.
The sun had already dyed the distant horizon a deep red, as if it were about to burst forth from its shell.
Everyone quickly took out their phones to record, and Xiaobai even made a video call.
"Xiaobai, who are you calling?" Zhang Tan asked curiously.
Xiaobai chuckled but didn't answer. Soon, Liuliu's irritable voice came through her video call.
"Little Flower, what are you doing—"
"You silly boy, get up and watch the sunrise! Look in the distance—"
Xiao Bai was in high spirits and seemed to have no idea that Liu Liu called her Little Flower. She only wanted to take Liu Liu to see the sunrise.
Liuliu mumbled something for a while, and it was hard to understand what she was saying, but her tone was irritable, so you could guess that it wasn't anything nice.
Seeing this, Robin immediately stuck his head out and waved to Liuliu, who was lying on the bed throwing a tantrum in the camera's view: "Hi Liuliu, is the sun out over there yet?"
Liuliu rolled her eyes at her, lay down, and didn't want to talk, but she didn't plan to hang up the phone either. As long as she didn't respond, Xiaohuahua wouldn't succeed.
Xi'er also came over to greet her, urging Liuliu to get up quickly and not to sleep in.
Liu Liu ignored them and simply lay down. Although their chattering could be heard in her ears, she was still able to fall asleep quickly.
Following Xiaobai's example, Xi'er called Dudu. Dudu had already gotten up and was even eating breakfast after exercising.
Hearing Xier mention watching the sunrise, she became very excited, put her phone on the dining table, and watched the live sunrise while drinking milk.
The sun had already peeked over the horizon, its golden light dispelling the darkness around the horizon, and vast expanses of golden light quickly spread across the land.
Everyone held their breath and watched the sun rise in the east, breaking through its shell, feeling joyful.
The sun rose little by little, and soon it rose completely from below the horizon, hanging in the sky. The depression at the foot of the mountain seemed to wake up from its slumber in an instant, becoming vibrant and full of life.
Everyone watched until the sun had fully risen before reluctantly descending the mountain to go home for breakfast.
