Chapter 1224: You Women Can’t Restrain Us Men Like This
Upon hearing that Lily Turner was planning to treat everyone, Athena Linton exclaimed, "Goddess sister! You’re so nice!"
Leaning forward, she gave Lily, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, a hug from behind.
"Brother-in-law! Why aren’t you the one inviting us to dinner? I’d prefer if you invited us," William Turner had a completely different reaction than Athena. He leaned forward, closing the gap to the driver’s seat, looking expectantly at the man driving.
Ensuring it was safe, Easton Holmes turned his head to glance at William in the back, "Your sister holds the family purse strings; I need her approval to treat you all."
He withdrew his gaze from the back, looking at the woman in the passenger seat. For safety, he quickly redirected his attention forward.
"Sis! How could you do that to your husband? Men need to socialize outside; you women shouldn’t restrict us men like that," William said naturally, not the slightest bit awkward or uncomfortable about discussing men and women.
Lily Turner turned her body slightly, gazing at William who was educating her from the back, "You brat! You’re talking about men and women at your age."
As she spoke, she reached back and gave her younger brother a light slap.
"Sis! Why did you hit me? Was I wrong? You’re indeed a woman, while brother-in-law and I are men." William didn’t expect Lily to hit him. Unprepared, he was a victim. He covered the area she’d slapped with his hand, looking at her in disagreement.
Before Lily could say anything, Athena Linton yanked William back to his seat, "The goddess sister is right, you’re not a man yet; you’re still a boy, maybe a big boy at most."
To prevent him from leaning forward again, she didn’t loosen her grip as she spoke.
"I..."
"What ’I’? Stop talking, and hurry up and think about what to eat later," Athena cut William off bluntly just as he started to speak.
Lily sat sideways, watching the two of them in the back. However, she didn’t plan to interrupt their conversation, nor did she intend to join in. She just quietly watched them.
"All you think about is eating, be careful or you’ll end up a big fatty."
"You might be disappointed; no matter how much I eat, I don’t get fat."
"Tch! Just getting vain, aren’t you?"
"Yeah, I’m vain. So? You got a problem with that?"
Though they argued intensely, neither of their faces showed anger or negativity.
After watching for a while, Lily confirmed that the two of them wouldn’t cause any unpleasantness, so she quietly turned back to her seat, raising her hand to point discreetly at the man driving, silently mouthing two words: Annoying!
Easton Holmes glanced at the woman pointing her finger at him, a charming smile unconsciously appearing on his lips, "Honey! Why are you pointing at me? Wasn’t what I said correct?"
He only saw her pointing; he hadn’t caught her silent words, but he knew she was unhappy with his previous remarks.
"You’re right, you’re always right, and later you’ll be treating the three of us to dinner," Lily said without waiting for a response from the man driving. She turned to face the two in the back seat, "Athena! William! You two stop discussing it now. It’s his turn to treat, and later you two shouldn’t hold back, just eat as much as you like."
