Chapter 766 - 765: Ethan Is "Stunned
"Serena!"
A voice calling Serena Sullivan echoed in the darkness, gradually becoming clearer. Ethan Grant lifted his head and saw light streaming through the crack in the door, slowly illuminating the desolation and panic in his heart.
The door turned open, and more light came. He looked up to see the people in the hospital room.
There were Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling, James Sterling and his family, Mindy Sterling and her son, and Simon Sterling and Claire Sullivan as well.
Everyone in The Sterling Family was here, not one missing.
"What are you standing here for?"
A familiar voice sounded. Ethan Grant turned his head and suddenly felt it was all so unreal. How was his mother here too?
The Matron Grant must have realized her son had become foolish!
He couldn’t have slept too long and turned silly!
"Serena has woken up; you can’t still be a fool."
The Matron Grant said, and Ethan Grant heard it clearly.
Awake!
Awake!
These two words spun back and forth in Ethan Grant’s mind. He looked towards the direction of the hospital bed where Serena was lying, lips curled in a soft smile directed at him.
"How did you wake up?"
Ethan Grant uttered, having stayed by Serena’s side without leaving for so many days, only to have fallen asleep in the room next door for one day and Serena woke up.
"Isn’t it good that Serena woke up?"
Ethan Grant’s words drew dissatisfaction from Simon Sterling; Wyatt Sterling, Eldest Master Sterling, and Second Master Sterling all glared at him.
"Serena, how did you wake up when I wasn’t here!"
A feeling of grievance welled up within Ethan Grant. He walked to the bedside, tightly gripping Serena’s hand.
His emotions were churning inside—joy, grievance, fear, and a slight touch of melancholy.
Serena looked at Ethan Grant, her smile growing more pronounced.
"I had to wake up!"
Serena did not know how long she was asleep, but during her slumber, there was always that familiar hand holding her, Ethan Grant’s voice filling her ears.
She knew someone was waiting for her here.
If she remained asleep any further, what would happen to Ethan Grant!
Before being wheeled into the surgery room, she knew the risks of the operation.
Everyone kept it from her, not wanting her to worry or be scared, not wanting to add pressure on her.
She cooperated obediently, but she would no longer abandon her own self.
She wanted to wake up, to stay with her family, to spend the rest of her life with Ethan Grant.
"Mm-hmm!"
Ethan Grant held Serena’s hand tightly and nodded emphatically.
He always knew Serena would awaken soon; he knew Serena wouldn’t leave him.
"Serena!"
Ethan Grant called tenderly again, disregarding how many were in the room, he leaned down and kissed Serena’s lips.
Only by seeing her safe and sound did that gnawing pain slowly diminish.
Everyone watched Ethan Grant and Serena in such intimate closeness; some chatted, some coughed, and others, like Simon Sterling and Wyatt Sterling, glared at Ethan Grant in displeasure.
"We’re heading back first."
Mr. Sterling stood up and said first, finally able to set his mind at ease after all these days.
They received a call from Simon Sterling before dinner and rushed over.
Now that Serena has truly woken up, any other matters will be discussed tomorrow.
Mr. Sterling and James Sterling, Mindy Sterling, and the others left first, leaving behind Simon Sterling, Wyatt Sterling, Claire Sullivan, and The Matron Grant.
The Matron Grant had arrived a couple of days ago, staying in a hotel owned by The Sterling Corporation when Serena hadn’t awakened.
Now that she was awake, she needed to go to the temple to burn incense, pray, and fulfill her wishes.
However, she had something she wanted to discuss with Ethan Grant, "Ethan, come over here."
Reluctantly, Ethan Grant let go of Serena’s hand, following The Matron Grant outside to talk, repeatedly looking back at Serena before leaving, fearing she might slip back into sleep before he returned.
