Chapter 83 Take Me to Conquer the World
Marina has come to St. Petersburg from Moscow again.
"Are you planning to stay here for an extended period?" Li Xiang asked, looking at the large and small bags of luggage.
Marina took a bank card out of her bag, handed it to Li Xiang, and said affectionately, "I sold my house in Moscow."
"I have 2400 million rubles in my card. Take it and use it. I know it's not much to you, but it's all my savings."
"So I have no choice but to take you in?" Li Xiang said with a wry smile.
"You're the one who told me to quit acting, that you'd support me, and now you want to back out?"
Li Xiang returned the card to Marina, hesitated for a few seconds, and then said, "I'll be frank with you. I don't know where you heard that I—I might be about to appreciate in value, and I'm in a hurry to place a bet."
"Actually, you don't need to do this. I'm a very sentimental person. Since I promised to take care of you, I will definitely do my best to do so within my ability."
"You need to think this through yourself. Once you're firmly bound to me, there's no turning back. I won't explain to you what I do or don't do, and I won't change my decisions for you."
Marina stepped forward, rested her head on Li Xiang's chest, and slowly said, "No matter what decision you make, I will stand silently behind you and always support you. I will not regret my choice."
Marina handed the bank card back to Li Xiang, saying, "I support you unconditionally."
Before Li Xiang could speak, Marina interrupted, "Don't rush me."
Li Xiang joked, "You still haven't told me the password."
Marina chuckled, amused. "Guess for yourself."
Li Xiang suggested, "I'll calculate it as shares for you."
"I don't want it. Let's leave it to our children when we have them in the future." Marina pushed Li Xiang down onto the sofa, straddled him, and said from above, "Promise me you'll take me to conquer the world."
"I conquered you first."
Li Xiang tried to get up, but Marina forcefully pressed him back down. "I want to be on top."
"Sister, this is a single-story house, draw the curtains!"
Marina ran to draw the curtains.
"By the way, Batulina would like to invite you to dinner." Marina glanced at Li Xiang's expression and said cautiously, "She might be interested in investing in Shopee.com, but I'm not entirely sure."
Watching Marina rush towards him in a flurry, Li Xiang thought to himself, "It seems Andrei is really coming out."
.
Batulina runs the largest construction company in the Moscow metropolitan area, and her personal assets, publicly disclosed alone, amount to as much as $13 billion.
Her husband is the current mayor of Moscow, which is very close to the center of power.
Spring River Plumbing Duck Prophet.
Even before Andrei was released, people's hearts were already unsettled.
But Batulina was still very careful. She invited Li Xiang to dinner under the pretext of business, and her husband Ruzhkov did not attend.
Marina, acting as the middleman, accompanied them throughout the entire process.
During the meal.
While Batulina and Li Xiang were chatting, Marina couldn't get a word in edgewise and was busy playing on her phone.
"Is there something good? You're smiling so happily," Batulina asked suddenly, noticing Marina's expression.
Marina paused for a moment, put down her phone, and replied, "Someone has asked me to act in a movie."
"The news travels really fast," Batulina remarked.
Marina deliberately grabbed Li Xiang's hand in front of Batulina, seeking her opinion: "Should I accept it?"
Li Xiang: "I'll accept it if I'm happy."
Marina said, seemingly oblivious to everyone else, "I want to spend more time with you."
Batulina knew perfectly well that Marina was putting on an act for her, and said with a smile, "Stop flirting, there's an outsider here."
"I'm going out to call the director." Marina got up and left.
Batulina gave a meaningful reminder: "Don't go too far."
Li Xiang smiled politely and said, "I'm planning to acquire Moneybookers and need some bridge financing. Are you interested in this business?"
"Moneybookers? That's a lot," Batulina asked. "How much do you want to borrow?"
"Twenty million US dollars."
"How long do you need to borrow it?"
"It's just a simple crossing of the bridge, at most one or two months."
After considering for a few seconds, Batulina said, "Since you've asked, I can't very well not help you, but 20 million is a lot of financial pressure for me."
"How about this, ten million, interest calculated daily, borrow and repay at any time, annualized interest rate of 25%."
Li Xiang smiled and said, "It's quite expensive."
"Unsecured loans are certainly expensive, but I've taken on the risk, so I have to make a little profit. You should understand that, right?" Batulina had a round face and a rather cheerful smile.
Li Xiang suddenly said, "I don't want cash."
Batulina paused for a moment, then smiled wryly and said, "I don't have any cash either."
Li Xiang emphasized, "I entrusted Deutsche Bank to negotiate the acquisition of Moneybookers. Whether the deal will be successful is still unknown, and I cannot guarantee that the money will be used."
"It's okay. If you're sure you need the money, let me know a week in advance." Batulina also borrows from the bank, taking in money with one hand and giving it out with the other, making a profit from the interest rate difference.
Li Xiang raised his glass and said, "Then it's a pleasure to cooperate."
Marina happened to return after making the phone call.
Batulina said something Marina wanted to hear: "You just closed a big deal with your boyfriend."
"We're just friends." Marina denied it verbally, but her actions spoke volumes as she picked up a tissue and considerately wiped Li Xiang's mouth. "Don't move, there's something dirty on your lips."
After returning from Moscow, Li Xiang went to Elena's residence to collect ten million US dollars in cash and went directly to Deutsche Bank.
"Where did you get all this money from?" Pierce asked, his head buzzing as he looked at the boxes of US dollars.
"The loan will all be deposited into my account." Li Xiang took out the loan agreement he had signed with Batulina and handed it to Pierce. "This is the IOU. Make a copy if you need to keep a record."
Pierce took the documents and breathed a sigh of relief, but his face was still grim. "Mr. Li, you shouldn't be asking for such a large sum in cash."
"Unsecured loans? I'm already grateful they're even willing to lend to me. What's there to be picky about?" Li Xiang said unhappily, crossing his legs as he sat down and urged, "Can I deposit it? If not, I'll go somewhere else."
Pierce quickly replied, "Yes, you can deposit it. Your paperwork is fine."
"I'm just reminding you out of goodwill that cash can be problematic, so try to avoid taking it if possible."
Li Xiang made an excuse: "Isn't this a special case? We urgently need the money. Batulina's husband is the mayor of Moscow. I don't dare to speculate about why they have so much cash in US dollars, and I don't want to know."
"When you come to Deutsche Bank to do business, you comply with all the necessary regulations, which is understandable. I hope you won't spread any unnecessary gossip, because if it gets out, something bad will happen—"
"I'm not stupid, I wouldn't go around spreading rumors." Pierce held the original IOU in his hand, his features contorted in pain. "How about we just not print it?"
Li Xiang said, "Can you comply with regulations if you don't print it? I don't care, as long as it can be deposited."
"Money's hard to earn," Pierce muttered, tapping his head as he went to print out the documents.
