Chapter 63: Graduated Directly
Chapter 63: Graduated Directly
Su Ming knew when to stop; three fat fish were enough to make a sumptuous whole fish feast.
Moreover, once new fishing friends join, the effect of his reverse dice roll becomes largely useless.
So he quickly put away his fishing rod, picked up the net containing three big fish, and waved to the crowd of onlookers who had not yet dispersed.
"Brothers, look! This spot is really good. I don't know how to fish at all, but I caught three big fish."
He pointed to the corner where he had just been sitting, "I have to go now, and this spot is just sitting there anyway. Is there anyone who wants to continue fishing?"
"I'm selling it. The price... it's negotiable, 200 yuan."
Upon hearing this, the crowd fell silent for a moment, then erupted into a murmur of discussion.
"Holy crap, fishing spots are for sale?"
"200? This guy's gone crazy for money!"
"But he caught three big fish in less than half an hour. This location is a bit strange."
"Damn it, who would buy it for 200? Do you think I'm stupid? I'll buy it, I'll offer 250."
"Damn! I'll bet three hundred."
Suddenly, the crowd started bidding, and it was about to turn into a mini-auction, which amused Su Ming.
"Six hundred, I'll offer six hundred." Suddenly, a man in a floral shirt and gold chain gritted his teeth and shouted out a high price.
Immediately, everyone else fell silent. Paying 600 yuan for a fishing spot? That's stupid.
"Six hundred, this brother offers six hundred, is there anyone offering more?" Su Ming shouted in a serious manner, and seeing that no one responded, he immediately made the decision.
"Sold! Congratulations, sir! Wishing you a great catch and a bountiful harvest!"
The man in the floral shirt smugly scanned the code and paid 600 yuan, then eagerly moved his high-end equipment to the spot where Su Ming had just been.
With his unexpected windfall of 600 yuan, Su Ming happily carried the fish and walked over to the kind old man from before.
He looked at the old man with utmost sincerity in his eyes.
"Grandpa, thank you so much for your guidance earlier. Look, I've caught something! You taught me so well."
As he spoke, Su Ming gave the old man a thumbs up.
The old man looked at Su Ming's sincere smile, then at his fishing rod, which hadn't moved for a long time.
His face flushed slightly, and he waved his hand, his tone complicated, "Ah, you're still the quick learner, kid. You've already graduated, there's nothing more for me to teach you..."
After saying that, the old man muttered to himself, "This kid is really weird."
Su Ming didn't say anything more, but instead pulled the completely bewildered Gu Yushu out of the crowd.
After putting the fish in the trunk, Su Ming sat in the passenger seat, and Gu Yushu drove away.
Then Su Ming sent Gu Yushu an address, which was his home address.
"How about that? Are you convinced now?" Su Ming looked at Gu Yushu with a smug expression.
Gu Yushu snorted and ignored him, carefully driving according to the navigation sent by Su Ming.
But in his mind, he was thinking about Su Ming's every move just now, from fishing to auctioning and then collecting money.
Having caught fish, taken the fish, and received money, Gu Yushu was truly amazed.
Half an hour later, the car drove into an old residential area that had been around for a while.
There are no marked parking spaces here, so cars are parked pretty randomly.
Su Ming guided Gu Yushu to park the car in a relatively empty spot, then led her out of the car and into the alley.
Su Ming led Gu Yushu upstairs. The door opened to reveal a small two-bedroom apartment. The living room was small, the furniture was simple and even a bit old, but it was kept fairly tidy.
Gu Yushu stood at the door for a moment, slightly stunned. Although she knew that Su Ming was not a rich second generation, she always felt in her heart that Su Ming was not short of money.
Unexpectedly, his family was in dire financial straits.
"It's a small place and a bit messy, please don't mind, Director Gu," Su Ming said casually as he carried the fish into the kitchen.
"Sit wherever you like, make yourself at home. Help yourself to water; there are drinks in the fridge."
Gu Yushu changed into a pair of slippers, walked into the small living room, and sat down on the sofa.
"You live here?" Gu Yushu couldn't help but ask.
"Yes, I've lived here for over twenty years," Su Ming replied while preparing fish in the kitchen.
"You're a big boss, you're not short of money, why are you still living here?" Gu Yushu asked.
With Su Ming's current income, she felt she could easily afford to live in a very nice house.
Putting aside everything else, the several million yuan that he and Haoyou Media transferred to him is enough to buy several houses, right?
The housing prices in Jingcheng are not high; a commercial apartment only costs a few hundred thousand yuan.
The action of washing fish in the kitchen suddenly stopped, and Su Ming's somewhat bewildered voice came from behind.
"Yeah, right... I'm not short of money, why not buy an apartment?"
Gu Yushu: "..."
Su Ming poked half his body out of the kitchen, his eyes shining: "You're right. I'm not short of money now, so why should I keep living in this shabby place? I need to buy a bigger place."
As Su Ming spoke, a plan formed in his mind: after returning from Hangzhou, he would take his father to buy a house.
Gu Yushu found it particularly amusing to see Su Ming's surprised expression.
This guy can seem shrewd at times, but at other times he's like a complete idiot.
"So... do you have a property in mind?" Gu Yushu asked casually.
"Not yet, I hadn't thought about it before, but it's okay, I'll go check it out later," Su Ming said casually.
For the next hour or so, Gu Yushu sat in the living room playing on her phone.
Every now and then, I could hear the rhythmic sounds of chopping vegetables, sizzling oil, and stir-frying from the kitchen.
Until Su Ming came out carrying steaming hot dishes.
Braised grass carp segments, boiled fish fillets, milky white fish head stewed with tofu, plus a stir-fried seasonal vegetable dish.
These four simple dishes, however, are a feast for the eyes, nose, and palate, and appear exceptionally abundant when placed on the small dining table.
"We're limited by the conditions, so please make do with this." Su Ming set out the bowls and chopsticks and called to Gu Yushu.
The two sat down facing each other. Gu Yushu tasted a slice of boiled fish and then gave her evaluation.
"It's delicious." The cooking was even better than she had expected; she had initially thought she was going to eat some kind of culinary disaster.
"That's right, it's a unique recipe." Su Ming said proudly, picking up a piece of fish for him.
"Eat more, you deserve half the credit for this fish today... as part of the bet."
Gu Yushu rolled her eyes at him, but didn't refuse. She ate slowly, savoring the taste of the dishes.
Halfway through the meal, Su Ming seemed to suddenly remember something.
"By the way, Director Gu, I have something important to ask you. You've heard about that industry exchange meeting in Hangzhou next week, right?"
Gu Yushu paused slightly as she picked up some food, then looked up at him, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes.
"You know this?"
"Yes, the organizers invited me to attend the conference," Su Ming answered frankly.
He was just testing Gu Yushu, thinking that she should know about the meeting and might even attend.
Hearing this, Gu Yushu's expression became somewhat subtle. She was also a member of the organizers and didn't remember Su Ming being on the invitation list.
Could it have been added later? Maybe.
Gu Yushu didn't think much of it and said calmly, "That's quite a coincidence. I'm also going to this exchange meeting next week. How about we go together?"
It was just a casual, polite remark, but Su Ming immediately agreed.
"Okay! I'm new to this place, so please take good care of me, Director Gu."
