Chapter 365: Decree
Chapter 365: Decree
"Stop her!"
"What about these people?"
"They’ve been bewitched by the Undead! They’re not human anymore! Kill them!"
SQUELCH!
Blades hacked into flesh and blood, cutting down the rioting patients.
Having received their orders, the Guardians of Light showed no mercy.
The Guardians of Light stationed around the altar were all members of the Divine Hall of Light with unshakable faith.
They would not waver in the face of a command from the Divine Hall, carrying it out decisively.
Like emotionless machines.
"Stop! Stop it!"
Someone cried out in horror.
Tears streamed down their face.
WHOOSH!
The Bright Knights besieged Savinia.
Savinia nimbly dodged the Bright Knights’ attacks, her slender waist twisting as her dance grew ever more enchanting.
The minds of the Bright Knights who drew near began to be affected.
A faint, phantom flute melody lingered in the Bright Knights’ ears.
The bewitched Bright Knights turned on their own companions.
"Damn you, Undead! Go to hell!"
Seeing his comrades fall under Savinia’s spell,
A Warhammer Priest angrily raised his iron hammer and brought it smashing down toward Savinia.
The hammer erupted with a sacred, golden radiance.
Bathed in the radiance, Savinia felt a searing pain on her skin.
The Holy Power was burning her Undead Body.
"Trace, come save me!"
"Don’t call for me! I’m about to die myself!"
The black-clad youth, Trace, was besieged by multiple Holy Knights, his situation dire.
His wings were tattered, and his body was covered in blood.
Seeing this, Savinia shouted, "I’m done playing with you!"
Her body split into pieces, each part fleeing in a different direction.
Her head dove into the crowd and vanished.
BOOM!
The warhammer, suffused with Holy Light, smashed into empty air, having lost its target.
Some of Savinia’s limbs were intercepted and destroyed, but the majority of her body disappeared into the crowd.
However, the rioting Green Corpse Cold patients had yet to stop.
This meant Savinia’s ability was still in effect.
A Grand Priest scanned the area, ignoring the charging Minotaur Arno, and prepared to use the power of the Goddess’s Tears to free the bewitched crowd.
"Decree! Halt!"
The female Grand Priest on the left bellowed.
A Decree was a type of Divine Art, a formidable power that could only be wielded by believers of the light at the rank of Grand Priest or higher.
The moment Minotaur Arno heard the Decree, he felt his legs solidify, rendering him unable to move.
He had been affected by the Halt effect.
The platinum-gold Light Blessing Runes on his body began to glow.
Weakening the power of the Decree.
Minotaur Arno’s eyes widened. Mustering all his strength, he began to lift his thigh, inch by inch.
The muscles in his thigh swelled, clearly defined, with veins bulging on the surface.
Terrifying power erupted from within Minotaur Arno.
CRACK!
The sound of shattering glass echoed around him.
He had broken free from the Decree.
THUD, THUD, THUD!
Having thrown off the Decree’s shackles, Minotaur Arno took heavy steps, ascending to the highest point of the altar one step at a time.
The Grand Priest who had been preparing to use the power of the Goddess’s Tears had no choice but to stop and turn to deal with Minotaur Arno.
Three Grand Priests used their Decrees at the same time.
"Decree! Oppress!"
"Decree! Submit!"
"Decree! Awe!"
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
In that instant, the Light Blessing Runes on Minotaur Arno’s body flared with astonishing brilliance.
The Blessing of Light seemed to be reaching its limit.
It could not withstand the might of three Grand Priests’ Decrees.
Minotaur Arno’s steps halted. His legs trembled, and his whole body shuddered.
At any moment, he could be forced to his knees by the power of the Decrees.
BAM!
Unable to resist the power of the three Grand Priests, Minotaur Arno fell to one knee.
He braced himself with one hand on the ground, straining with all his might to lift his head.
The muscles and veins on his neck bulged, making it look a size larger.
He glared with his bovine eyes, staring daggers at the three figures just a short distance away, resisting with everything he had.
The Grand Priests focused all their power on suppressing Minotaur Arno.
Their attention on the Goddess’s Tears on the statue waned.
A figure appeared silently before the statue, reaching for the Goddess’s Tears nestled between its brows.
Just as the Goddess’s Tears were about to be taken, a majestic figure appeared beside the statue.
It was Lancelot, the Grand Archbishop of the Storm City Divine Hall of Light.
The Legendary Witch Lich paused and turned to look at Lancelot.
Lancelot looked back at the Legendary Witch Lich.
The Legendary Witch Lich moved, his hand shooting out to grab the Goddess’s Tears.
In the next second, both the Legendary Witch Lich and Lancelot vanished from beside the statue.
Leaving only the Goddess’s Tears hovering in midair.
The two had entered the Holy Sanctuary of the Divine Hall of Light.
This was the battlefield Lancelot had prepared specifically for the Legendary Witch Lich.
The aftershocks from a battle between Legendary Powerhouses were staggering.
If they fought at full strength within Storm City, the slightest misstep could destroy more than half the city.
Facing a Legendary Witch Lich who had lived for nearly a thousand years, Lancelot didn’t dare to even think of holding back.
Thus, he had deliberately designed this plan to pull the Legendary Witch Lich into the Holy Sanctuary for their fight.
Here, not only would he receive a power boost from the Divine Hall of Light, but he also wouldn’t have to worry about the aftershocks of their battle affecting Storm City.
Lancelot drew his sword and pointed it at the Legendary Witch Lich.
Tens of thousands of golden sword glints materialized behind him, all formed from Holy Power, the bane of the Undead.
"Holy Sword of Light!"
Countless Holy Swords of Light shot toward the Legendary Witch Lich.
The Legendary Witch Lich made no visible move, but a massive black shadow appeared behind him.
The shadow’s feet were planted on the ground, its shoulders level with the heavens.
An incomparably colossal shadow Giant.
The shadow Giant swung its palm, attempting to slap down the Holy Swords of Light.
The Holy Swords of Light pierced straight through the shadow Giant’s palm and continued toward the Legendary Witch Lich with undiminished power.
The shadow Giant ignored its hand, which now resembled a fishing net, and brought its palm down from the sky, pressing down on Lancelot.
SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!
BANG!
The powers of light and darkness clashed relentlessly.
The two sides engaged in a contest of the purest power.
There was not a shred of technique involved!
It was all a collision of raw power.
The battle within the Holy Sanctuary was reflected in the sky above.
At times, a vast darkness would appear, shrouding the entire firmament.
At other times, a brilliant light would erupt, illuminating the whole expanse.
A battle between darkness and light.
To the people in Storm City, it felt as if one moment it was a starless, moonless night, and the next it was high noon with the sun blazing overhead.
Even the most foolish person understood that the fate of Storm City would be decided on that battlefield above their heads.
While everyone was locked in a bitter struggle, a small, inconspicuous hummingbird slowly approached the statue.
It wasn’t until the moment the hummingbird seized the Goddess’s Tears that the Grand Priests noticed the movement up there.
The Legendary Witch Lich was already being held at bay by Lancelot.
The Grand Priests’ attention was focused on Minotaur Arno.
They never imagined someone else would dare to steal the Goddess’s Tears.
"Stop! Put down the Goddess’s Tears!"
A Grand Priest roared in fury.
The hummingbird flew into the distance, clutching the Goddess’s Tears.
Unexpectedly, the Goddess’s Tears were not protected by any power.
This was because the Goddess’s Tears themselves symbolized the most powerful forces in the world—Divine Power and Rule.
Composed entirely of Divine Power, the Goddess’s Tears needed no other force to protect them.
Other than Divine Power, no other power could destroy the Goddess’s Tears.
The Grand Priest roared, issuing one Decree after another.
"Decree! No Flying!"
"Decree! Fall!"
"Decree! Return!"
