39: Brother-in-law
39: Brother-in-law
Zhou Ning's older brother is named Zhou Yu. He is 25 years old this year. When he was in college, he got into a fight while standing up for his sister and made a mistake.
As a result, he didn't even finish college before his father sent him to the army to serve, and he was only discharged a few days ago.
He was able to leave the army mainly because of Zhou Ning. If Zhou Ning hadn't suddenly gone abroad, his father wouldn't have let him return from the army. Therefore, he was very grateful to his sister.
The siblings had a close relationship since childhood, so when Zhou Yu returned, he stopped his mother from subletting the typing shop. He took over the business himself and looked after it for Zhou Ning.
Zhou Yu hadn't expected the person in front of him to be Han Wen. He was indeed very handsome and sunny, but he looked quite young, probably not even twenty years old.
This young man had his sister completely infatuated with him, so much so that she was willing to go out of her way to borrow money for him.
As a result, the matter escalated out of control and became unmanageable.
To be honest, Zhou Yu didn't have a good impression of Han Wen before meeting him in person. After all, he was influenced by his parents' attitude and had some preconceived notions.
However, when he saw Han Wen with his own eyes, he realized that this young man was quite good. No wonder his sister, who was so outstanding and beautiful, was so fond of him.
"You speak Korean? My sister called the military base to tell me about you before she went abroad." The other person was also taken aback: "But why do you look so young? How old are you? Are you younger than my sister?"
"Yes, brother, I am Hanwen." Hanwen didn't answer the other person's question, but put down his suitcase and nodded.
"Don't call me 'big brother' yet. My name is Zhou Yu. Just call me by my name." Zhou Yu shook his head directly: "I can't believe you dared to come back with such a mountain of debt. That's incredible. How come you actually made money in the Shanghai stock market?"
"A small profit, nothing to mention. That's why, unable to make a fortune, I have no choice but to come back to prepare to return to my old ways." Han Wen shook his head and sighed, "Besides, even if I don't make any money, I still have to come back."
Because I promised Sister Ning I would come back to pay back the debt in six months.
"You keep your word, that's good." Zhou Yu nodded and said, "Since you're here, please come in."
"Thank you, brother." Han Wen nodded.
This time, Zhou Yu did not refuse and continued, "The rooms upstairs are still empty, no one lives there, and no one has touched them. Your things and those letters from readers are still there."
This is Ningning's intention; my sister is truly devoted to you, completely and utterly loyal.
Are you just back from Shanghai? If you don't have a place to stay, you can stay here for now.
You can bring the items upstairs first, then come down to help. I've been in the military for many years and have become somewhat out of touch with society.
I can't type, and I don't know how to assemble or repair computers. This thing is a bit complicated, and it's too tiring to learn.
"Big brother, I'm staying here. Will your parents have any objections?" Han Wen asked, somewhat worried.
"My parents are so busy with work that they simply don't have time to come here, nor do they have the energy to worry about things here."
"As long as I don't say anything, they won't know." Zhou Yu shook his head, indifferent: "Before my sister left, she actually asked me to take care of you. She likes you so much, I can't just ignore you."
In short, you should settle in first and get the business up and running. I'll talk to Mom and Dad about the rest when I get back.
"Okay." Han Wen nodded and carried the suitcase upstairs.
Returning to a familiar place and looking at the familiar scenes, Han Wen felt a mix of emotions.
More than half a year later, he finally returned. Unfortunately, he was now all alone in the room, and could no longer hear Zhou Ning and Gu Amei's cheerful laughter.
After putting down his suitcase, Han Wen sat on the bed for a while before going downstairs. Then, he took over the work from Zhou Yu and got busy.
"I heard from my mom that you had your sister borrow several hundred thousand yuan for you back then?" Zhou Yu asked, sitting to the side and smoking a cigarette.
"Yes, over two hundred thousand, almost three hundred thousand," Han Wen replied, nodding.
"Let me tell you, Hanwen, if you have money, you should pay this debt back as soon as possible."
If you're broke, you'd better run away quickly. Find a new place and figure out how to make a comeback.
"Don't worry, for my sister's sake, I won't leak the news of your return, and I certainly won't tell my mom." Zhou Yu thought for a moment before saying, "You don't know my mom. Actually, she's very difficult to deal with."
Because of this debt, she lost face in front of her relatives and friends and couldn't even lift her head.
So, not only do I hate you to the core, but I also blame Ningning as well.
Otherwise, she wouldn't have been so furious and forced Ningning to go abroad.
As for my dad, it's even harder to say. I'm his own son, and yet, just because I got into a fight for Ningning, he sent me straight to the army.
You know, I was still in college back then. And what happened? He almost completely ruined my life.
Han Wen had never met Zhou Ning's parents, and Zhou Ning had never told Han Wen about them in detail.
Therefore, he didn't know what kind of people the other party's parents were. But without a doubt, they were probably difficult to get along with and hard to deal with.
Strangely enough, Zhou Ning and Zhou Yu both seem to have good personalities, which is exactly what Han Wen admires and likes. That's great.
"If I borrow from a friend or move some money around, I should be able to manage."
"Brother, I'm lucky. Although I didn't make a lot of money in the stock market, I'm now somewhat famous for writing books, so I can even get a loan from the bank," Han Wen replied.
"Speaking of bank loans, the property certificate for this shop is still mortgaged to the bank."
However, no matter what, as long as you have money, there is hope for solving the problem.
Even if you don't have money, as long as you are willing to take responsibility, I admire and respect you.
"Don't worry, I'll talk to my parents about this when I get back." Zhou Yu nodded: "Once you've paid off your debts, I can arrange to rent the typing shop back to you."
From now on, focus on your business and stop making a mess of things. My sister has suffered so much because of you; she's been through so much.
"I understand." Han Wen nodded, then asked with concern, "Big brother, do you know which country Sister Ning went to?"
"This was arranged by my mother, and only she knows about it. She doesn't say anything, and no one dares to ask." Zhou Yu sighed, shook his head, and said helplessly, "Han Wen, you'd better not worry about my sister. Because it won't do you any good if you do."
"I'll ask her again when my mom's anger has subsided and she doesn't care about these things anymore. Don't worry, I'll tell you as soon as I get the news."
"Okay." Han Wen nodded, feeling that his brother-in-law was really capable and excellent, and he appreciated him.
