Chapter 6: 12000 units of [Mana].
Chapter 6: 12000 units of [Mana].
Bai Lu was making plans in her mind:
Even with a sixth-ring talent, it's impossible to be this fast.
This kid is definitely hiding his true abilities; his actual score is probably higher.
He appears to be a sunny, handsome young man, but I never expected him to be so deep and calculating.
Bai Lu smiled gently and announced the end of today's meditation class.
As the students gradually left, she held Zhang Lingyun's hand tightly.
"Hey classmate, come with me to the private room in the back and let's chat for a bit," Bai Lu said with a grin.
Looking at this overly enthusiastic witch, Zhang Lingyun felt a strange unease rising in his heart.
He turned to Xia Youran for help.
Xia Youran, however, paid no attention to this.
She was sitting in the nearby rest area, slowly sipping a can of pink Monster Energy.
Bai Lu rolled her eyes and teased with a smile:
"Is that your girlfriend? She's quite pretty."
Zhang Lingyun initially wanted to deny it immediately, but then she thought that perhaps this would make the other party restrain themselves, so she simply acquiesced.
But Bai Lu had no intention of stopping and continued to hold onto his arm.
"Come on, come on, let's chat for a bit, I have something good to show you."
"Xia Youran, come here too." Zhang Lingyun waved to her.
"This is such a hassle."
Xia Youran muttered something, but still got up and followed.
The two followed Bai Lu along the corridor, and the atmosphere around them became increasingly strange.
The first half resembles a typical gym, but as you go further in, the style becomes more like a research institute.
They went to the deepest part and entered a testing room.
Bai Lu gestured for Zhang Lingyun to sit down:
"Let me test your [magic power], your talent is truly amazing."
Zhang Lingyun hesitated for a moment, looking at Xia Youran with a puzzled expression.
Xia Youran looked around, finally focusing on the metal chair in the center, its back shimmering with a faint green light.
"Is this a magic element detector? It even has a radiation source installed. Is it really legal for you to put it in a gym?"
Bai Lu glanced at her and said nonchalantly:
"You're being incredibly ignorant. We're all witches now, why should we care about the law?"
Zhang Lingyun was speechless.
He had long heard of the "witch" as a creature with a naturally weak sense of law, and today he witnessed it firsthand.
"What is this thing for? Is it dangerous?" Zhang Lingyun asked.
"It measures your specific [magic power] value. The level of danger is average, similar to getting a CT scan at the hospital," Xia Youran explained.
Bai Lu kept urging him on from the side:
"Don't worry, it's absolutely safe. You just awakened today, so you probably haven't tested your [Magic Power] yet, right? Don't you want to see your true strength?"
Zhang Lingyun frowned:
"I already know the awakening ring number, isn't that enough to explain the problem?"
Bai Lu looked puzzled upon hearing this.
Xia Youran shrugged beside her:
"Don't be surprised by his ignorance. He's a terrible student who always sits in the last row in class and doesn't know a lot of common sense."
Bai Lu couldn't help but burst out laughing:
"Handsome young man, how come you're even more of a witch than us witches?"
She explained gently as she locked Zhang Lingyun to the seat.
"The [Awakening Ring Number] only represents your potential and is a reference for the level you can reach in the future. But what truly determines your current strength is your [Magic Power].
A warlock with the potential to reach sixth rank, but currently has zero mana, will inevitably die if he encounters a third-rank warlock with abundant mana.
Zhang Lingyun looked at Xia Youran for confirmation, and the latter nodded slightly, confirming that what she said was true.
After thinking for a moment and becoming curious about his [magic power], Zhang Lingyun nodded in agreement.
Seeing that she had received permission, Bai Lu quickly and efficiently attached the electrodes to him, then turned and walked towards the switch on the wall:
"I'm going to start applying the voltage."
"What? Wait a minute!"
Zhang Lingyun panicked instantly, never expecting to be electrocuted.
But Bai Lu didn't give Zhang Lingyun a chance to back out, and suddenly pulled down the power switch with both hands.
Zhang Lingyun didn't look at the voltage reading, but from the sound of the air vibrating, he could clearly sense that the voltage was definitely not low.
To Zhang Lingyun's surprise, he didn't feel much pain.
It's probably because my body's resistance increased after I awakened the [Warlock Bloodline].
The test was over in an instant.
Bai Lu stared at the readings on the instrument, her eyes widening like a cat's, her face filled with shock.
Xia Youran was still leisurely sipping her drink, and asked listlessly:
"How much magic power do you have?"
Before answering the question, Bai Lu patted the machine hard, as if she suspected that the machine's reading was wrong.
She asked casually:
"How much is your [Magic Power] after this first test?"
Xia Youran answered casually:
"I am the [Weak Witch], my reading is less than 500 units."
"I'm a little better than you. I did about 5000 units the first time."
Xia Youran frowned, feeling that this guy was deliberately trying to annoy her, but she also felt somewhat helpless.
This is the fate of the "Weak Witch" throughout her life. From childhood to adulthood, she has to endure "numerical discrimination," much like regional discrimination.
She gave a perfunctory reply:
"If it's 5000 units, then your potential must be above the fifth ring level."
"That's right, everyone called me a genius back then."
When Bai Lu said this, there was little joy on her face.
She eventually bypassed the machine and looked down at the readings again.
"Guess what your boyfriend's reading is?"
Xia Youran had seen Zhang Lingyun's card score and felt it was definitely higher than Bai Lu's, so she boldly guessed:
"6000 units?"
Bai Lu slowly raised her head, her tone filled with disbelief:
"12000 units."
Xia Youran froze instantly, spitting out a mouthful of pink beverage.
This is the second time today that she has been so shocked that she has choked on her drink.
She only had 500 units when she first awakened, and after so many years of hard training, she has only just exceeded 1000 units.
On the first day of his awakening, Zhang Lingyun broke through 12000 units.
This world is so unfair!
Seeing that the two girls were still in awe and showed no intention of letting go of him, Zhang Lingyun tried to break free of his restraints.
Bai Lu caught a glimpse of him out of the corner of her eye and quickly rushed to his side:
"Don't touch it! 12000 units of magic power—you could easily break the machine if you're not careful. If the radioactive elements inside leak, this place will become another Fukushima!"
As she untied Zhang Lingyun, she asked with a flattering expression:
"Which university are you from? Are you ready for the college entrance exam? Would you like to come to our university? I can introduce you to a professor, and I feel there's a high chance you can be directly admitted."
"Which university are you from?" Zhang Lingyun asked.
"It's Green Island University, the local university. I'm a sophomore now, in the [Energization School]. My mentor is amazing; she's a formidable [Great Witch].
