Chapter 50: One serving of caviar per person
Chapter 50: One serving of caviar per person
The waiter led Lin Simon and his three companions through the lobby. The brothers in red and blue pants attracted the attention of many customers because of their unique aura.
The two brothers in red and blue pants instinctively shrank their necks and followed closely behind Lin Simon.
After passing through a door, you can see Gray and Miguel.
"Horus, it's a pleasure to have you here."
Gray walked over with a warm smile on his face.
The information that Simon Lin had Emily register for him used Horus's name.
Miguel stood to the side, his lips twitching slightly as his gaze swept over the three men in red and blue pants, but he didn't say anything more.
Lin Ximeng pointed to the three people behind him: "Let me introduce you, this is the Assam and Kelly Kevin brothers. You don't mind bringing them along for a free meal, do you?"
"Of course not," Gray said, still with a polite smile, turning to the waiter.
"Bring the three gentlemen a deluxe seafood platter, the largest size."
The waiter immediately pushed in a food cart, with huge white porcelain plates filled with seafood: plump lobsters, bright red crab legs, and steaming hot baked oysters with cheese, among other things.
He then arranged for the three men with the small mustache to sit in a seat in the hall.
The two brothers in red and blue pants stared wide-eyed, swallowed hard, and as soon as the waiter put the plate down, they couldn't wait to grab a lobster, tear off the claw, and start gnawing on it.
"What the hell? This is so delicious!"
The man in red pants mumbled incoherently, while the man in blue pants nodded and stuffed scallops into his mouth, almost moved to tears.
The last seafood they ate was deep-fried dead shrimp they received from the shelter, which was only the size of their little finger.
"Mr. Horus is indeed a great man!"
"I will definitely work hard from now on and try to enjoy such a feast once a month."
As they ate, the two mentally calculated how they could be of help to Lin Ximeng.
Assam, with his small mustache, looked at the seafood platter in front of him and couldn't help but reminisce about his days as a white-collar worker.
Therefore, at first I wanted to maintain some decorum, holding a knife and fork, not wanting to wolf down my food too quickly.
But when he picked up an oyster and took a small bite, the delicious broth exploded in his mouth, and the sweetness instantly shattered his last bit of restraint.
He simply put down his fork, grabbed the crab leg with his hand, broke it off forcefully, and began to devour the crab meat, having completely forgotten about the concept of "decency."
"I have some collaborations that I'd like to discuss in detail with Mr. Horus."
As he spoke, Gray asked the waiter to lead the way to a private room.
The private room was decorated elegantly and luxuriously, with seascape paintings hanging on the walls.
Gray then signaled to the waiter to bring out the drinks and food.
Before long, the waiter brought over a bottle of red wine with an elegant label and introduced it softly: "This is a 2018 Pinot Noir from the Burgundy region of France. It has soft tannins and a rich fruity aroma."
Miguel's eyes lit up. He leaned over and smelled the cork, saying with an elegant expression, "This kind of fine wine should be savored slowly to avoid wasting it."
As he spoke, he elegantly swirled his wine glass.
The next second, he turned his head and saw Lin Ximeng grab the wine glass in front of him, pour it directly into his mouth, and drink it all in one gulp.
Lin Ximeng put down his glass, smacked his lips, and commented sincerely, "It tastes good, a little sweet."
Miguel's hand, holding the wine glass, froze in mid-air, and the wine tasting remarks he had prepared were all stuck in his throat.
isn't it?
Shouldn't it be that, under my guidance, we start by drinking red wine and gradually experience the refined lifestyle of the middle class?
What am I supposed to do if you gulp it down like that?
There are still many complicated steps to follow, can we still go on?
Before Miguel could recover, Gray suddenly clapped his hands, his face beaming with an even more enthusiastic smile:
"Horus, I love working with people like you."
Lin Ximeng leaned back in his chair and said calmly, "Just say what you're thinking. We homeless people don't beat around the bush."
Gray smiled and leaned forward slightly:
"As far as I know, the guy who stormed into 7th Street and defeated the Black Penguin Gang's boxer a while back was Horus, wasn't he?"
"This matter has now spread throughout the poor streets, and many people know the name of you, Horus."
"In fact, this matter helped me in some ways."
Lin Ximeng became more curious: "Oh? Why would our struggles as homeless people interest your pharmaceutical company?"
"Of course, it's related to my performance," Gray said without hesitation, his tone tinged with pride.
"I was the company's top pharmaceutical representative in the Los Angeles area last year, and I found the most and the highest quality cadavers for drug research."
"Of course, the bonuses received are also the most generous."
Lin Ximeng frowned and asked, "What do you need so many corpses for?"
Gray straightened his tie, looking completely at ease: "For the sake of medical advancement, of course!"
"The reason why American medicine can lead the world is because of a continuous stream of research samples. How can we do that without enough human subjects?"
"Isn't organ donation a popular practice here?" Lin Ximeng pressed. "Isn't this enough?"
Gray shook his head: "Not even close!"
"According to statistics, less than 18% of the medical research needs in the United States are met by voluntary body donation, and a large part of the remaining needs are met by homeless people on the streets."
He paused, then concluded solemnly, "Therefore, I have always believed that the homeless are one of the most important components of the progress of medicine in America."
Upon hearing this, Simon Lin understood why Gray was more enthusiastic towards homeless people than ordinary people.
This is a significant part of their performance bonus, so how could they not be enthusiastic?
Gray continued, "But this year is different. A colleague of Dylan's has come along, ambitious enough to surpass me. He's currently negotiating a partnership with the Black Penguin Group, trying to monopolize their corpse resources."
After listening, Simon looked at Gray: "So, you don't mean you want me to take down the black penguin by myself, do you?"
Gray immediately laughed and waved his hand: "Of course I wouldn't joke like that."
He then changed the subject, adding with a hint of slyness, "But if it really happens, I would be happy to accept the outcome."
"However, what I need most right now is a meeting between the Black Penguin Group and Dylan in a few days. I hope Horus can help me sabotage it..."
Gray immediately suppressed his smile and was about to recount the details of the disrupted meeting when a sudden commotion erupted in the hall, interspersed with the anxious explanations of the brothers in red and blue pants.
Lin Ximeng frowned, got up, and quickly walked out of the private room.
As soon as they entered the hall, they saw a group of people gathered in the corner. The brothers in red and blue pants were being blocked in the middle by the three Japanese men from before, their faces turning bright red.
The short-haired Japanese man was gripping the red-trousered man's wrist tightly, while another Japanese man pointed at the overturned dish on the table and shouted angrily, "You poor vagrants, you spilled our caviar! If you don't pay up today, we'll have the waiter throw you out!"
The man in red pants struggled to explain, "I didn't do it on purpose. You bumped into me and that's why it fell over."
The man in blue pants stood by helplessly, wanting to help but too afraid to step forward.
Without wasting words, Lin Ximeng walked straight over and grabbed the wrist of the short-haired Japanese man.
He applied force, and the other person instantly winced in pain, their face turning red.
No matter how much the Japanese man struggled, Lin Simon's hands remained motionless, and he forcefully pried open the man's hand that was gripping the red pants.
"What... what do you think you're doing! They spilled my caviar!"
The man with the buzz cut was in pain and furious, his voice trembling.
Lin Ximeng scoffed, "Where did this poor Japanese wretch come from? Caviar, huh?"
He glanced at the small dishes on the table: "The way you guys are so stingy, and you're standing so close to us, makes people think we homeless people can't afford caviar like you."
As he spoke, Lin Ximeng instructed the waiter not far away, "Waiter, give everyone here a serving of caviar."
He paused, then added, "Don't worry, Mr. Gray will pay the bill in the private room."
