Chapter 240 The Self-Cultivation of a Good Secretary
Ye Fan looked at Miao Zi and asked, "The resumes are indeed impressive. What is their current work status?"
Miao Zi was clearly prepared and immediately answered fluently, "According to the latest feedback from the headhunter, three of these five are currently actively seeking employment, including Zhang Kairan, Chen Lichuan, and Tang Huai'an. The other two, Wang Kaiwen and Gu Yuejia, are still employed."
"Oh? Wang Kaiwen and Gu Yuejia are currently employed?" Ye Fan tapped his fingers lightly on the table, then pressed on, "Did the headhunter reveal their motivations for seeking new opportunities? Is it limited development, or dissatisfaction with the status quo?"
"The headhunter didn't say anything, only that they are open to new opportunities, especially to emerging companies like ours with strong capital backing," Miao Zi answered truthfully.
He then added his observation: "However, people like Gu Yuejia at Tencent Penguin Pictures and Wang Kaiwen at Walmart are giants in mature systems. Given their age and background, they are very likely to seek breakthroughs or greater autonomy."
Ye Fan nodded.
He glanced at his watch; it was just past 10:30 in the morning.
Then he looked up at Miao Zi and said, "Miao Zi, contact these five people immediately. Tell them that if it's convenient for them, the company founder would like to meet with them today. Send them the company address and ask them when they can arrive at Zifeng Tower at the earliest."
"Now?" Miao Zi confirmed again. Such last-minute invitations, especially for employed candidates, usually require more coordination time.
"Yes, now." It's still early, there's plenty of time.
"Okay, I'll contact them now." Miao Zi walked out of the office, picked up the phone, and started making the call.
About ten minutes later.
Miao Zi returned with the results and reported to Ye Fan in a clear and concise manner: "I have contacted all five of them. Zhang Kairan, Chen Lichuan, and Tang Huai'an said they have plenty of time and can come over now, but it will probably take them 20 to 30 minutes. As for Wang Kaiwen and Gu Yuejia, they are currently at the company and need to ask for leave, so they may arrive a little later."
Miao Zi paused for a moment: "Wang Kaiwen should arrive around 11:30. Gu Yuejia seems to be dealing with an urgent matter and we need to coordinate the time. To be clear, she won't be able to get to the company until 12:00 at the earliest."
Ye Fan nodded, indicating that it was nothing, since he didn't have anything important to do at the moment.
He picked up the water glass on the table, took a sip, and looked calm.
He knew very well that recruiting top talent was never a one-sided selection process, especially for those with impressive resumes and multiple options.
The decisive factors are the company's vision, efficiency, the founder's perspective and magnanimity, and the project's inherent appeal.
This impromptu interview is itself an important part of the two-way selection process.
He needs to observe whether the other party's on-the-spot reaction, professional competence, and values align, while the other party is also assessing whether he, as the boss, is worth following.
......
Twenty minutes later.
The huge company was completely silent, with only the faint sound of the central air conditioning blowing air.
Suddenly, the landline rang out crisply, breaking the silence.
Miao Zi, who was somewhat disheveled, sat up straight instantly from Ye Fan's arms. A faint blush still lingered on her cheeks as she quickly lowered her head to tidy up her slightly messy clothes and hair.
"I'll go get him." She said softly, her voice slightly breathless, and quickly got up and walked out of Ye Fan's spacious office.
Ye Fan watched her figure disappear through the doorway, a playful smile playing on his lips.
Miao Zi returned quickly.
Ye Fan beckoned to her, gesturing for her to sit down next to him.
Miao Zi didn't move, but said, "Chen Lichuan is already downstairs and registering at the front desk. The interview will be in about five minutes."
"When they arrive, just let him in." Ye Fan also became serious.
"Okay, I'll go get ready." Miao Zi said and left the office.
Taking the opportunity, she quickly took out a small makeup mirror and a lipstick from her bag.
She walked to the bright light by the window, turned her back to the office, and quickly touched up her almost faded lipstick. She then used her fingers to comb through her slightly frizzy hair.
Finally, she looked down and carefully checked her beige business suit, smoothing out any wrinkles. She took a deep breath to make sure she had regained her capable and professional image before picking up her folder and notebook.
A few minutes later.
"Knock, knock, knock." The office door was being knocked on rhythmically.
"Please come in," Ye Fan said calmly.
Miao Zi pushed open the door and entered, her posture poised and her face bearing a professional smile.
She stepped aside, and a refined gentleman in a well-tailored navy blue suit and gold-rimmed glasses appeared in the doorway.
He looked much younger than his actual age, carrying a simple black leather briefcase, his eyes calm yet shrewd.
"Mr. Ye, this is Mr. Chen Lichuan, who is here for an interview," Miao Zi introduced clearly to Ye Fan.
Ye Fan's gaze lingered on Miao Zi's face for a moment, catching a hint of awkwardness that she was trying hard to hide beneath her deliberately serious expression. He couldn't help but wink at her and reveal a mischievous smile.
This left Miao Zi feeling somewhat helpless.
Ye Fan, most of the time, displayed a maturity and control far beyond his age. When talking to him, Miao Zi, who was several years older than him, was repeatedly at a disadvantage.
But it is precisely at such moments that he reveals this almost childlike mischievousness, always leaving her both amused and exasperated.
She could only tense her facial muscles and try her best to maintain a professional expression, secretly relieved that Ye Fan was only teasing her with his eyes and did not take any further action, which made Miao Zi breathe a sigh of relief.
She knew perfectly well that even if the tacit understanding of the joke, "When there's work, the secretary does it; when there's nothing to do..." was unspoken, she could never reveal it in public, otherwise the professional image she had worked so hard to build would be completely destroyed.
This is the self-cultivation of a good secretary...
Ye Fan stopped teasing Miao Zi and stood up, greeting the refined-looking man behind her formally, "Mr. Chen, hello!"
Chen Lichuan immediately stepped forward and firmly grasped Ye Fan's hand: "Hello, Mr. Ye, I am Chen Lichuan. Thank you for arranging this meeting despite your busy schedule."
His voice was gentle and polite, but behind his glasses, his eyes betrayed a hint of genuine surprise.
Before arriving, he had learned through headhunters and industry insiders that although the new company, named "Minglu Culture," had only been established for a short time, its substantial capital of 20 million yuan paid in upon registration and its mysterious background had already caused quite a stir in the industry.
