Chapter 21 Arrival in Seoul
Chapter 21 Arrival in Seoul
The school's procedures took longer than Li Yuan had imagined.
The main issue was that Seoul National University's review process for his application materials took two days, causing him to arrive in Seoul two full days later than expected.
However, thanks to the two days that were delayed, Lee Won successfully avoided Kim Tae-yeon's "harassment"—the one who had been calling him the other day saying she was coming to pick him up at the airport, acting all aggressive as if she was going to block him, had actually gone off to work on her own schedule these past two days, temporarily letting Lee Won off the hook.
"Oppa, has the plane landed yet?" Li Yuangang took out his phone and received a message on Kakao with the contact name "Lychee".
"I just got off the plane. You messaged me so right on time, did you arrive at the exact moment?" Li Yuan's lips curved into a smile as he typed a line of text on the screen.
"Lychee" is Hwang Ye-ji, the leader of ITZY, the new girl group that JYP is about to launch, and a trainee that Lee Won met when he worked at JYP.
However, they should be calling him "Yeji" soon, as his debut is imminent and his trainee status is a thing of the past.
"I checked Oppa's flight schedule, so I messaged him around the same time. I didn't expect it to be such a coincidence." Hwang Ye-ji sent a Ragdoll cat beckoning emoji.
"I just came from the airport, and I'll probably be going back soon."
There's no one to pick me up from the airport this time, so I'll take a taxi home first.
SM Entertainment originally wanted to pick him up at the airport, but Lee Won said it wasn't necessary. He also wanted to go back to his house in Seoul first to drop off his things before going over.
With all my luggage, I wasted half a day just getting through customs in both countries.
"Should I go back soon?" Huang Lizhi's messages were almost constant, as if he was waiting for a reply.
"Didn't you already decide on the debut lineup? You must be busy with practice and filming, right?" Li Yuan thought for a moment, then declined, "I don't want to take up your time. I'm just going to pack my things."
"Okay then, I'll go later. See you tonight, Oppa!"
"See you tonight." After sending this message, Li Yuan put away his phone.
Li Yuan then skillfully hailed a taxi outside the airport.
Although taking a taxi in Seoul is significantly more expensive than taking the subway, he had too much luggage, and squeezing onto the subway or airport bus was clearly not a wise choice.
Moreover, Li Yuan is not short of money, and he certainly wouldn't settle for a life he can enjoy.
"Where are you going, passenger?" the driver asked, turning his head as he got into the taxi.
"Go...go to Gangnam District XXXX." Lee Won initially spoke in Chinese out of habit, but realized his mistake as soon as the words left his mouth and quickly switched to Korean.
"Are you also from China?" To everyone's surprise, the driver immediately switched to fluent Mandarin when he heard his accent.
"Yes, you too?" Li Yuan looked at the driver's face in the rearview mirror.
This fluent Mandarin doesn't sound like it was learned.
"Yes, I've been working here for eight or nine years now." The driver smiled, and then, as if he had opened a floodgate, began to chat with Li Yuan.
Li Yuan wasn't really used to talking too much with strangers, but this driver was obviously a chatterbox, so he could only politely respond, occasionally adding a few words like "um," "oh," or "Is that so?"
Just as he was about to run out of things to say, his phone suddenly beeped with a message notification.
The driver immediately shut his mouth, and the carriage fell silent instantly.
Li Yuan let out a long sigh of relief.
Who is this person who has rescued me from dire straits?
Li Yuan picked up his phone and saw that it was Jingnan.
She sent me a message saying that she's been busy preparing for the album lately, so she probably won't have much time to go shopping and will have to postpone buying things for now.
There's also a crying emoji of Lim Na-yeon.
Li Yuan gave her an "OK" sign, but she didn't reply for a while, probably because she was busy.
There's really nothing we can do about it.
TWICE just released their second special album, "Summer Nights," last month, and this month they're preparing for their first Japanese full-length album, "BDZ," next month, while also having a Japan tour planned for next month.
Then in December, there's the third special album, "The Year of YES," and I even have to squeeze in time to participate in the recording of the Idol Star Athletics Championships this month.
If Li Yuan hadn't stopped them beforehand, the company originally planned to release another album, "YES or YES," in November, followed seamlessly by "The Year of YES" in December.
Even an iron man couldn't withstand this kind of torment.
2018 was arguably TWICE's busiest year yet. The company seemed to be either worried about going bankrupt or finally had a girl group that could keep them afloat, so they were exploiting them relentlessly.
Because of this message, Li Yuan kept thinking about what he needed to do in the next few days while holding his phone, so the driver wisely didn't bother him anymore.
The driver didn't say much along the way and quietly drove the car to its destination.
"Thank you." Li Yuan quickly thanked the driver under his hesitant gaze, then pushed open the door and got out of the car, cutting off the driver's words that he hadn't yet spoken.
He took his luggage out of the trunk one by one and closed the taxi door.
finally arrived at home.
If he hadn't kept quiet, he probably would have chatted with the driver for ages. Li Yuan shook his head and dragged his luggage into the apartment building.
Once inside the building, he pressed the button for his floor, the metal door slowly closed, and the elevator began to ascend smoothly.
Arriving at room 1202, Li Yuan took out his key from his pocket, inserted it into the lock, and turned it.
The door opened.
There was a slight noise in the entryway, like someone walking around. The sound of slippers on the floor was very soft, coming from the direction of the living room.
Is Huang Lizhi back? Li Yuan thought to himself, didn't we agree that he would come later?
He pulled out the key and pushed the door open completely.
A girl was standing in the living room.
She was wearing a white bathrobe, seemingly because she had just taken a shower and the room was a bit warm, so she wasn't wearing it properly, but just casually draped it over her body, with the neckline slightly open, revealing a section of her delicate collarbone and a small part of her snow-white, soft curves.
The hem of her bathrobe just covered her thighs, and her long, slender legs were almost dazzling in the afternoon sun, glowing white. Her hair was wet and draped over her shoulders, with water droplets dripping down the ends, leaving small, dark dots on the shoulders of her bathrobe.
She was drying her hair with a towel in one hand, completely unaware that someone would come in from outside the door.
However, since she had her back to him, Li Yuan couldn't see her face.
This person seems to be a bit shorter than Hwang Li-ji, probably around 1.6 meters tall.
The figure doesn't match either; Hwang Li-chi is thinner than her, and this girl has softer curves and a slimmer waist...
It's not Hwang Li-chi.
Who is that?
Zhao Meiyan, who was drying her hair, heard the door open and instinctively turned around.
The two people looked into each other's eyes.
The air seemed to freeze at that moment.
Li Yuan saw a face that was still exquisite even without makeup, and then...
"ah--!"
Zhao Meiyan's groundhog squeak echoed throughout the entire house.
