Chapter 39 Expanding Recruitment, the American Sewers
Chapter 39 Expanding Recruitment, the American Sewers
Nine o'clock in the morning, at Skid Row's Northern Security Company.
Zhou Feng had a good night's sleep and arrived at the company early in the morning, only to find to his surprise that apart from Kane sitting in front of his computer working, no one else was in the office.
Zhou Feng, puzzled, stepped forward and patted Kane on the shoulder:
"Where are Roger and the others?"
Kane, still staring at the computer screen, said weakly:
"Business has been booming at the company lately, and all of them have been out fulfilling orders. They haven't been back to the office for several days."
Having said that, Kane turned to look at his boss, his lips pale, and said:
"Boss, what do you need them for?"
Zhou Feng was startled by Kane, whose eyes were bloodshot, face was pale, and had large dark circles under his eyes. Kane suddenly turned around.
"Holy crap! Are you a human or a ghost?!"
For the first time, a look of panic appeared on Zhou Feng's face. He cursed the national treasure and then subconsciously took a step back.
But after realizing what he had said, he laughed somewhat speechlessly:
"No way, Kane, you slept with the widow last night? How did you end up looking like this?"
Upon hearing this, Kane's eyes nearly overflowed with rage. Clutching his wounded heart, he bitterly denounced:
"Boss, I've been working in front of the computer for two days and two nights without sleep for the company, and you're saying this to me?!"
"Huh? Two days and two nights without sleep? Are you crazy?! What if you suddenly die in the office?"
Zhou Feng stared incredulously at his employee, who was practically burning to a crisp.
Speaking of this, Kane was practically on the verge of tears:
"Boss, I also want to get a good night's sleep, but the company's orders are increasing. I have to act as the company's customer service representative to deal with the orders from employers, and at the same time, I have to maintain the company's app and website. I'm completely overwhelmed."
"And it wasn't just me; the other brothers spent almost all their time serving their employers, except for eating and sleeping."
Kane said a lot in one breath, but Zhou Feng only summarized three points.
We're short of people, we're short of people, we're damn short of people!
When Northern Security was first established, it didn't have much of a reputation, and the few people they had were more than capable of completing the orders.
But after two months of development, the company's orders kept increasing, and Roger and his team were clearly struggling to keep up.
Zhou Feng was not an evil capitalist. He knew that a person's energy was limited. If this continued for a while, not only would the company's development stagnate, but Roger and the others would also suffer health problems.
Not only will the company's development stagnate, but Roger and his colleagues' health will also be ruined.
That was a situation he didn't want to see.
To solve this problem, Zhou Feng had no choice but to expand enrollment.
But expanding recruitment is easier said than done, as Northern Security is different from other types of companies.
It has extremely high requirements for the overall quality of its employees; the physical condition alone can weed out most of the homeless people in Skid Row.
After various screenings, very few people can remain.
Zhou Feng had been searching the streets for so long, and only Roger and a few others met the criteria.
Given the current severe shortage of manpower, it is clearly unlikely that we can gather talent through such a clumsy method.
The homeless people in Skid Row are extremely scattered, and some are hidden in nooks and crannies that he really can't find.
Zhou Feng shook his head inwardly, unable to think of a better solution for the moment. He could only try his luck by sweeping the streets.
Thinking this, he glanced at Kane, whose fingers were still typing away on the keyboard, and pulled him, chair and all, away from the computer.
"Stop working. I'll give you a day off. Go and rest and get some sleep. I don't want to wake up one day to find one of my brothers gone."
Kane became somewhat anxious upon seeing this:
"But Boss, I still have a lot of work to finish, some clients I haven't replied to, and..."
"Stop it! Work is never-ending. Go back to sleep, get going!"
Zhou Feng shoved him out of the company and then closed the door behind him to prevent Kane from sneaking back to work overtime again.
Leaving the office building, the sunlight felt warm and comfortable on Kane's body.
His tense work nerves gradually relaxed, and a strong feeling of drowsiness suddenly overwhelmed him.
Kane had an urge to just lie down and sleep.
Oh well, I can't argue with my boss anyway, so I'll just go back and get some sleep.
Kane yawned as he thought this, then headed home.
After watching him leave, Zhou Feng opened his eyes and began to scan the homeless people in his sights as he walked.
Currently, this is his only channel for recruiting talent.

As time went on, Zhou Feng gradually became impatient.
He had walked a long way down the street where the company was located, but he hadn't found any qualified candidates.
Even normal people are rare; the majority are drug addicts and cardamom addicts.
He sighed, though these people did indeed each have their own strengths.
However, if unqualified individuals are recruited into the company, the reputation that the company has worked so hard to build will collapse instantly.
"Let's walk around and see."
Zhou Feng shook his head and muttered to himself.
After walking a while longer, he saw something not far ahead.
A thin, homeless man actually moved the manhole cover and crawled inside.
Seeing this scene, Zhou Feng suddenly remembered a blogger's account from before his transmigration about how many homeless people often lived in the American sewers:
Because the Industrial Revolution in the United States occurred very early, many cities have complex and intricate sewer systems.
The earliest batch of sewers can be traced back more than a hundred years.
The engineers responsible for building and designing these sewers are long gone, and many of the blueprints are lost.
Therefore, later generations could not repair these ancient sewers, and could only have later engineers build more sewers on the original foundation.
As the saying goes, one bug is a bug, but a bunch of bugs can work.
Therefore, there are many things and matters in the American sewers that even their government doesn't know about.
For example, weapons hidden inside during the Cold War, or secret transactions conducted by gang members underneath.
Of course, there are often homeless people living there in groups.
Zhou Feng thought for a moment, since he couldn't find any talent on the ground, why not try his luck underground?
